The Arts investigate different ways to communicate and express our ideas, feelings and opinions visually and through performances. The Arts give us a greater understanding and appreciation of our world, our environment and people. Art, Music and Drama are an important part of our way of life. The Arts provide students with leisure skills; an appreciation of their environment; their culture and the world around them. They also provide self-awareness and develop confidence in the student’s own ideas and problem solving ability. The Arts can lead to jobs in education, media, the visual and performing arts.
Art
Art allows students to communicate, express ideas, feelings and opinions through visual means such as painting, drawing, sculpture, design and printmaking and ceramics.
Drama
Students learn about significant forms of Drama from across the world, to perform and create drama, to experience drama through high quality texts and professional performances. Students form, present and respond to drama while developing their creativity, confidence, independence and an artistic and intellectual connection to the world.
Music
Students encounter music in a variety of ways, having the opportunity to play and sing music of all types, create their own compositions and learn to analyse and understand a variety of musical styles and genres.
