Musicians from the Kingaroy State High School Concert Band were given a rare opportunity to workshop with Captain Stephen Button who is second in command of the Australian Army Band in Brisbane. Members of the band gave up their last day of holidays to be involved in this intensive rehearsal and according to their conductor Julianne Schick, the timing could not have been better, ‘the ensemble is heading to Brisbane to represent Wide Bay in the state finals of Fanfare in two weeks’ she said. ‘Captain Button has excellent credentials, with over 30 years of experience in working with these types of ensembles, it was a real treat for the band to work with him’.
