Mathematics is an integral part of a general education. It can enhance understanding of our world and the quality of our participation in a rapidly changing society. Mathematics pervades so many aspects of daily life that a sound knowledge is essential for informed citizenship.

As Mathematics has continued to develop in response to changes in society, so too has the teaching of mathematics responded to societal needs. Technology, including scientific and graphics calculators, computers and electronic means of communicating information, is increasingly reflected in the way mathematics is taught and learnt.

The Mathematics Department at Kingaroy High School offers a varied curriculum in line with the school philosophy of catering for the individual needs of students. At each year level, students may study mathematics at different levels.
