In 2018, Yumi and Nodoka from Japan have enjoyed a great year at Kingaroy SHS.
Coming from the Tokyo Board of Education, Yumi and Nodoka have experienced the variety of lifestyles that Kingaroy and rural Queensland has to offer. Most of all, though, it is the friendships as well as relationships with host families that will endure.
Both girls were farewelled at Kingaroy High last week, with many friends and families, as well as teachers, in attendance. The cultural exchanges, travel and way of life were singled out as some of the benefits for both girls in the 12 months. Staff added that they were impressed with the way that both girls became involved in so many different aspects of Kingaroy High and the commmunity, from volunteering, to club membership and also trying sports and activities to which they have never previously been exposed.
The Education Queensland International Committee at Kingaroy SHS hopes to host many more exchanges in the future.
