Our school

Kingaroy State High School is located in the rural community of the South Burnett, approximately 250 km north-west of Brisbane. Celebrating 50 years of operation in 2009, Kingaroy High has a proud history of preparing students for their chosen post-school pursuit, thus fulfilling its motto, ‘integer et diligens’ (integrity and diligence, honest and hardworking).

Four houses, Palmer, Youngman, Lavarack and Bradfield form the basis of sporting competition in athletics, swimming and cross country each year. Other lunch time sporting events such as netball, volleyball and touch also take place, based on these house groupings.

A year 12 male and female school captain, and vice captains lead the school, supported by six committee chairs (cultural, environment, sport, social, media and welfare), as well as eight house captains. In the junior school, there are two junior school captains and four junior school vice captains who represent the junior school on student council.

Kingaroy State High’s school hours are 8.45 am to 3.10 pm each day, with the lesson structure being four 70 minute lessons. There are pastoral care lessons each morning, with a full school assembly on Tuesday mornings and year level meetings on another day of the week for each year level.
