Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Re: Exciting Updates and Changes for Kingaroy State High School in 2025
As we prepare to welcome the 2025 school year, I am pleased to share a number of important updates and initiatives that reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional opportunities and support for our students and school community. These changes have been developed following extensive consultation with staff and community stakeholders and are designed to enhance the educational experience at Kingaroy State High School.
1. Timetable Change – Flexi Early Sign-Off for Senior Students
In 2025, eligible Year 12 students, and further rolling out to Year 11, will have the option to request a flexi early sign-off during Period 4 on Tuesdays. This initiative, introduced later in the year, is available for students who meet the criteria of being on track to complete their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
This flexible option will provide students the opportunity to focus off campus study, on tutorial or study sessions on campus or attend essential catch-up sessions for those requiring additional support. We believe this will further empower students in managing their learning and preparation for success.
2. Facilities Enhancements
We are thrilled to announce several significant facilities upgrades for 2025, which include:
- A brand-new canteen, offering improved service and additional options for students.
- New outdoor facilities to support recreation and engagement.
- Refurbished staff spaces, ensuring our team can work collaboratively in a productive environment.
- The long-awaited progress on the refurbishment of our toilets, enhancing comfort and hygiene for all students.
These upgrades demonstrate our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive and inspiring school environment.
3. QLearn and QParents Rollouts
Building on the success of QLearn, we are continuing its rollout in 2025. Additionally, we are expanding the use of QParents to make it easier for parents to access key information about their child's education. Our goal is to have 95% of parents utilising this platform by the end of the year, ensuring stronger communication and engagement between school and home.
4. Welcoming New Staff Members
We are excited to welcome talented new staff members to Kingaroy State High School in 2025:
- Ms Amy Stevens – HOD Student Engagement, Year 7 (joining us from Chancellor State College).

- Ms Alysha Walker – HOD of Senior Schooling and Year 10 Student Engagement.
These additions bring valuable expertise and energy to our team, further supporting our students' success.
5. Systematic Review of Year 10 Offerings
In 2025, we will undertake a comprehensive review of Year 10 subject offerings, with a focus on providing an array of exciting opportunities for implementation in 2026. This process will include consultation with staff, students, and parents to ensure we continue to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of our students.
