In a ceremony filled with pride and promise, seventy-one student leaders recently took their Oath of Service, marking the commencement of their tenure as this year's Student Council. The investiture ceremony, held on 19 February, was attended by parents and caregivers, students, staff, and esteemed guests.
The highlight of the event was the inspiring speech delivered by guest speaker Damien Martoo, a former student and the current President of the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Martoo imparted invaluable advice to the young leaders poised to make their mark.
Addressing the assembled students, Martoo emphasised the importance of readiness and action in leadership. He urged, "If you're not ready to be a leader, be a doer and support those that are leading." He spoke about how he became an accidental leader by being willing and able to communicate with people, reminding the students that leadership is not solely about titles but about dedication, collaboration, and empowerment.
The ceremony was enriched by outstanding performances from our Vocal Group and Symphonic Band, showcasing remarkable talent and dedication, especially considering that we are only four weeks into the school year.
We wish our school leaders the very best for a successful 2024!
