Yesterday, Kingaroy State High School recognised Safer Online Day with a special presentation for our Year 7 students.
Our Adopt-a-Cop, Senior Constable Tyler Henderson, visited the Year 7 assembly to speak about the law and what it means for young people navigating the online world. He shared practical advice about responsible online behaviour, the potential consequences of unsafe choices, and simple strategies students can use to protect themselves and others.
The timing of the presentation was particularly relevant, as we have recently rolled out iPads to our Year 7 students as part of our one-to-one device program. As students increase their use of technology for learning, it is important that they also build strong digital citizenship skills.
The Department of Education has developed a helpful iPad Families Guide to support parents and carers with digital safety, parental controls and screen time management. Families can access the guide here:

The eSafety Commissioner website is another excellent resource, offering practical advice and up-to-date information to help families support safe and positive online experiences:

We thank Senior Constable Henderson for his ongoing partnership with our school and for helping our students build the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe online.
